  1. This is a very interesting study, and an important one for an equitable and environmentally sustainable future. In your analysis, what ideographs did the stakeholders use? How might this affect their ability to communicate the importance of this project? How might it reflect the ways in which this project could be implimented? Very interesting stuff!

  2. Alan, I appreciate Will Sipe's questions on your inteesting project using McGee's ideographic criticism. Understaning what ideographs were used (and how others might counter or ignore these) will help an organization like the one you are studying, design arguments and perhaps materials to get local citizen's to become interested and/or join into this effort. From your conclusions what helps "community repond well to the project"? We are so grateful for the work that you have done with your Capstone professors this semester; you hung in there and finished up your project. Wishing you all the best! If you are graduating this semester, congratulations and please keep in touch with us, you are always a CommHusker! Dr. Dawn O. Braithwaite, Department Chair, Communication Studies

  3. Hi Alan,
I used to TA for this course in 2013 & 2014 and advised the quantitative and qualitative projects. Your study lies outside of my wheelhouse so I am not able to provide much feedback in that capacity. Sorry.
But, what I can offer our a few general thoughts. I think the ideographic criticism is a good place to start. I would love to see qual/quant follow up work that could account for variables like race and socio-ecomonic status. I would love to break this down further to think neighborhood by neighborhood in Lincoln.
Also, this got me thinking about the Atlanta beltway project, which has been vital for creating bike/walk access to marginalized communities in the city, but has yet to be completed in its entirety.
And then that got me onto the subsequent gentrification of Chelsea, NYC after the completion of the High Line project.
All and all, your project has given me a lot to think about!
    GBR!
